The EMR Basic Problem

The EMR (electronic medical records) can also be found as EHR (electronic health record). They are synonymous. The EMR electronic medical records tried to reduce all medical procedures implying the unnecessary use of paper. Even if there are numerous companies on the market creating and selling this type of software most of the hospitals use old paper method. Even if only 10% of all medical institutions are using this system, the health care area in USA proved really interested in managing the concept of interoperability. For the EMR domain this concept is really important. It defines the fluency required in all communications involving physicians, pharmacies and hospitals. The patient possesses a record which is carefully handled throughout the EMR. But all data contained by this record has to be shared by those three authorities involved in using the EMR electronic medical records.

This problem requires more effort than people dared to imagine. Most popular brands on the American market created some sort of a preferential system. Each company from all 25 involved in creating and commercializing EMR software are manufacturing products which are not compatible with those belonging to their competitors. The health care system found itself totally ineffective. The EMR policies are built on the patient-centered idea. The EMR are designed to help both the patients and the doctors. Everybody should be content with this new improvement. But unfortunately this system is not completely operable. The EMR should have improved the health care domain and it really did in a certain manner. But there still are few gaps which should be filled up with comprehensive strategies. The EMR electronic medical records should increase interoperability between physicians, pharmacies and hospitals. The patients should be completely satisfied because of this technological improvement. But the EMR electronic medical records still has some important issues to solve out.
